Our commitment to environmental stewardship and conservation has always been an important part of our business. We embed environmental thinking into our daily decisions – from using alternative fuels to power our attractions to installing more efficient lighting in our hotels. We reduce waste through recycling, reuse, and repurposing. We find creative ways to conserve energy and water. With a strong focus on protecting ecosystems, we aim to save wildlife. And we provide enriching opportunities to connect kids and families to nature.
Through partnerships with leading environmental organizations and the scientific and academic communities, we support the conservation of wildlife and habitats around the world through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund.
The open space that we have at several of sites is managed with attention to native plant and animal species. Read more about our nature conservation efforts.
We are inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards through our efforts to connect kids with nature. Through collaboration with respected nonprofit organizations, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts are creating opportunities for children and families to discover and experience nature.
Our conservation strategies include improving water and energy efficiencies in existing operations as well as investing in new technologies and systems that better manage these important resources. We integrate water and energy management in the planning of our future projects.
We diligently practice the concept of reduce, reuse and recycle at our parks and resorts – both in our guest areas and behind the scenes. From distributing excess prepared food to food banks to our relationship with Clean the World to provide soap for recycling and distribution to children in need, we find creative ways to divert waste from landfills. And we continually test and implement new initiatives to further decrease waste and facilitate recycling.
Several attractions and service vehicles operate on alternative fuels such as biodiesel and compressed natural gas, and we continue to explore and encourage the use of cleaner sources of renewable energy and biofuels. Programs overseen by commuter assistance teams promote the use of carpooling and alternative transportation to help decrease emissions.
